To be asked to design and create a quilt for someone else can be both rewarding and challenging at the same time! I am always thrilled to take on these opportunities when they arise, the sense of achievement at the completion of a commissioned piece of work is very gratifying.

Above: Judy M's beautiful farmyard quilt was a long term UFO but now has finally been finished! The quilting gives the quilt such an amazing personality and really accentuates Judy's lovely hand applique work.

Above: Margaret B has created a beautiful sampler quilt in pastel pinks, cream and white florals. I chose custom feather swirls to quilt the sashing and borders with outlining, ditch stitching, hearts and lots more feathers to quilt the blocks. The textures in this finished quilt really are a feast for the eyes!

Above: Sue's very sweet family applique quilt was a great opportunity to try out my new swag templates with dense fillers, stippling and swirls. I love the way the unquilted areas pop out in stark contrast to the quilted areas, complimenting the applique and connecting each shape.

Below: Barbara's stunning Australian Wildflowers quilt incorporates Sashiko embroidery and hand applique. It is a large quilt and I chose a big stipple to quilt the busy borders and sashing, with free motion leaves and fillers around the applique and swirls and 'inca' geometrics in the red sashing.

Above: Margaret's candlewick cot quilt reminds me of an iced wedding cake! Feathered swags and spaghetti quilting team well with cross hatching.
